Synopsis In the year 2008, pharmaceutical scientists attempted to cash in on the Low Carb Protein Diet fad. They developed an enzyme that eventually became the oral medication Dopatrihydrozine, also known as the "carb crave killer." During clinical trials, the drug itself proved extremely effective in aiding persons on the protein diet. It eliminated cravings for carbohydrates! For those on a high protein low carb diet, carb cravings were a thing of the past! The original test group lost ten to twelve pounds per week; thirty to forty pounds a month! The results were incredible! Not only were the carb cravings eliminated, but also the protein burning capability was increased dramatically. The pharmaceutical company Rortek finished studies on their miracle diet pill in record time. Within six months of the end of clinical trials, the drug, now known as DTHD, was introduced to the public. Because of radiation technology, food was plentiful all over the world. Home entertainment made most families totally sedentary. The populace had become the heaviest in history. They were eager to regain their fitness. The diet pill DTHD became the best selling drug of all time, within just one month! Doctors, under constant pressure from the public, and to increase profit margins, prescribed it to anyone who asked. Black market and generic underground sales of the "carb crave killer" diet pill boomed. About one year later, Sara Phillips, one of the original low carb diet test subjects, began to feel ill. Scientists at the clinic tested her. They declared her fit and she returned home. Several days later her husband discovered her in their home. She had devoured every piece of raw meat in sight. When that supply had run out, she had begun to devour the family dog! This is where her husband discovered her, sitting in the middle of the living room floor covered in blood. Sara was immediately taken to the Rortek clinic where she died in much agony three days later. Scientists began to fervently pour over their notes. While they attempted to discover exactly what had happened, other original test subjects began to attack people and pets. Some were institutionalized. Others were killed while attempting to attack police. The general public on the diet drugs began to attack grocery and butcher shops, anywhere that raw meat could be acquired. Scientist soon began to realize that DTHD had worked TOO well. Not only did the subject taking it no longer crave carbohydrates, but also they now HAD to have protein of any kind! Cooked or raw, living or dead! |

THE ZOMBIE PLAGUE HAD BEGUN. Then the unthinkable happened. After two days, the bodies of those who had died began to reanimate. First hundreds, then thousands, resurrected. Half of the planet was taking DTHD by the time the trouble had begun. Quickly, within months, the population was dying by the Millions, then COMING BACK TO LIFE! The Zombies' driving force quickly became clear. They had the insatiable need for food! The government, at first, thought the military could handle the riots and police the cities. Bodies were burned as quickly as possible, to prevent reanimation. The burning, however, could not keep pace with the rate of deaths. They were quickly overwhelmed. Complete cities became killing zones. Blood ran freely in the streets. One Year later, 708 days after the drug DTHD had been introduced to the general public worldwide, the earth was a totally different place. One simple enzyme, developed by scientists, had caused the end of civilization, as we know it. Half of the population has died. Two thirds of those were now roaming the planet feeding on the living. The government had retreated into walled cities. These Government "Safe Zones" were accessible only to those that could afford the "Tax". The Government dropped supplies into major cities by Helicopter to aid "survivors". They also kept government run nuclear generators to power the cities, only to keep the "Zombies" at bay. Most Zombies, it was found, are light sensitive. Only a small portion will enter a lighted city at night. A small portion can still be hundreds. The earth is on the brink of EXTINCTION.
January 2, 2010. Our story begins. In a large southern city is a group known as the "Survivors". They are what are left of civilization in the city. They are weak and half-starved. Too poor to be eligible for the Government Safe Zones, they are preyed upon by two enemies, the Zombies and the "Upper Class". The Upper Class is no more than a band of criminals and opportunistic mercenaries lead by the Psychotic "Adam". They steal the monthly rations dropped by the Government and sell them back to the survivors for anything of value. A bizarre type of social order has been created. The Upper Class preys on the Survivors and the Zombies prey on both. Life in this world is prison and death the only parole. Into this city comes T.K. Kane, a stranger who hunts and confronts the Zombies head on! He has spent the last year in the wilderness, learning their weaknesses, honing his killing skills and now he is here in a new town. Death lurks around every corner. When the Survivors see what destruction Kane is capable of they beg him to join them and protect the small group. Kane has no interest in protecting anyone but himself. There is something very dark and foreboding about Kane. His past is a blank and the future is not important to him. Through a series of events Kane finds himself in direct conflict with the Upper Class and Adam. The direct result is that a bond is formed between this killer and the weakest of the species, the Survivors. The die is cast. Kane will kill Adam, destroy the Upper Class, and steal their blood treasure. Kane will use this to pay the Government Tax and take this rag tag group to the Safe Zone. This means surviving insurmountable odds. The only thing standing in his way is psychopath killers and a world full of Zombies. Kane may be the last chance for the last of civilization but will a secret in his past end it for them all? |
