About ZP International

About George Bonilla and ZP International

George Bonilla is as passionate a filmmaker as you would ever hope to meet. He literally puts his heart and soul into every project he takes on. If you ask him about his past accomplishments, you’re not likely to get much of an answer. That’s because he’s

bubbling with enthusiasm over his current film.

George Bonilla turned his back on a successful career in television to devote his time to see to fruition the films he wanted to make. He sought creative control on his projects, and started over from scratch to gain that control.

After traveling the globe, Bonilla settled in Lexington, Kentucky and formed ZP Productions. He produced and directed his first feature film, Zombie Planet, with an amateur crew in Lexington. By Hollywood standards, it was a risky move to embark on a project of the magnitude of Zombie Planet with a staff of unknowns, but it paid off. Zombie Planet was released world-wide in 2004.

Zombie Planet spawned a sequel, Zombie Planet II: Adam’s Revenge in 2005. Dance With a Vampire followed in 2006.

The intellectual thriller, The Edison Death Machine, became an award-winning film, taking home the trophy for BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS at the FRIGHT NIGHT FILM FEST, and BEST SCIENCE FICTION FILM 2007 at IT CAME FROM LAKE MICHIGAN.

2007 saw the release of Monstrosity. Fueled by the return to the screen of John Dugan, from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the film was a smash-hit at its festival appearances playing to standing-room only crowds. This success was followed up with 2008’s Hell-ephone ,an ingenuous horror story with a twist. Hell-ephone features an all-star cast that includes model Alex Del Monacco and Friday The 13th’s original Jason, Ari Lehman.

In 2008, George Bonilla was honored as KENTUCKY FILMMMAKER OF THE YEAR. It was a fitting tribute to a man who has helped so many others get their start.

Switching gears in 2009, Bonilla and company released a very unique short film, Indiana Jones and The Mummy’s Skull. The fan film  was cast entirely with children 12 years and under.  Done initially as a fun project for his nieces and nephews, the film drew attention and won the BEST FAN FILM award at FRIGHT NIGHT 2009.

The next feature for ZP International was a fun-filled family friendly feature, Santa Claus Versus the Zombies .released during the 2010 holiday season. Available in both 3-D and standard versions, the film has sold well and exceeded expectations during its pay Per View run.

Switching gears again, ZP International produced an instructional video, Fighting on Film: Enter the Independent during the production of Santa Claus Versus the Zombies.

In early 2010, Bonilla’s colleagues honored him yet again with the award for KENTUCKY FILMMAKER OF THE DECADE.

2011 brought a return to the horror genre with the aptly-titled Bunker of Blood which was followed by the tongue-in-cheek Mockumentary Surviving the Zombie Plague.
